Alana Perino was born in 1988 and grew up in New York City, the North Fork of Long Island, and the stretch of highway between the two. Their work, which spans the genres of photography, sculpture, performance, and autofiction, is concerned with home, heritage, the nature of belonging, and perceptions of the self. Perino’s practice has been recognized and supported by institutions such as Aperture Foundation, Silver Eye Center of Photography, Lenscratch, Palm Studios, and Lensculture. Perino holds an MFA in Photography from RISD. They currently live in Rhode Island, where they are an assistant professor at Johnson & Wales University.
